Hilary Kleinig is a cellist, composer, creative producer and educator based in Tarntanya / Adelaide. A versatile musician, she plays on modern, baroque and amplified cello in notated and improvised live and recorded performance and has performed with a broad range of leading ensembles, orchestras and contemporary music & jazz artists including Zephyr Quartet, Sia, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Jherek Bischoff, Stars of the Lid, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Australian Art Orchestra.

Hilary’s compositions have been commissioned / performed by ensembles such as the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Silk Strings Ensemble, Muses Trio, Clocked Out, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Chamber Singers and the Adelaide Youth Orchestras and are often heard on ABC Classic. Hilary also often writes music for theatre and dance productions collaborating with companies such as Restless Dance Theatre, State Theatre Company of South Australia and Brink Productions.

Hilary has recently released and undertaken a national tour celebrating the launch of her debut solo album of looping cello compositions alone: together which has been described as ‘haunting, ethereal and breathtaking’ (Limelight).

Instrumental Sections

Depending on number of entries, some SECTIONS may be divided, combined, cancelled or have entries CLOSED EARLY when capacity is reached

10.00am – Novice Instrumental Solo – Any age – * Conditions apply *)

10.15am – Intermediate Instrumental Solo – Age 13 & under

10.50am – Junior Instrumental Solo – Age 10 & under

11.40am – Open Instrumental Solo – Any Age

12.10pm – Senior Instrumental Solo – Age 16 & under

AANNOUNCE AUSTA AWARD FOR THE MOST OUTSTANDING STRING PLAYER

1.45pm – Instrumental Ensemble (2-5 instruments) – Junior – All members 13 & under

2.00pm – Instrumental Ensemble (2-5 instruments) – Open – Ensembles with any members age 14 or over
