Georgie Simmons is a conductor, singer and educator who has a passion for community and helping others experience the joy of excellence in choral singing.

A recipient of the prestigious Helpmann Fellowship and the Wayne Riddell Choral Award Georgie completed her Masters in Choral Conducting at McGill University in Montreal. During her masters she conducted numerous university choirs, including the award-winning Schulich Singers, and was on teaching staff as co-director of the McGill University Chorus. She was involved as a professional chorister at a number of churches, and had the exciting opportunity to work with a local Montreal bilingual childrens choir. She is delighted to be back in Adelaide conducting and singing with a range of ensembles. Recent performance highlights include singing with the Adelaide Chamber Singers in their Adelaide Festival program, singing with Aurora in Adelaide Festival opening MACRO and WOMADelaide festival, and conducting the choirs of Young Adelaide Voices in the premiere of The Lost Thing with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Georgie is an experienced educator, having taught at Brighton Secondary Special Interest Music Centre, Pulteney Grammar School, St John’s Grammar School, and as a teaching artist for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra learning program. She also conducts the Young Adelaide Voices Second Concert Choir and Kapelle Singers. In 2024 Georgie worked as the Assistant director of music for the Primary Schools Music Festival.

Outside of work, Georgie loves swimming, taking ballet lessons, and getting out in nature. She has a bit of a travel bug, and loves exploring new places both in Adelaide and elsewhere.

Choral Sections:

Depending on number of entries, some SECTIONS may be divided, combined, cancelled or have entries CLOSED EARLY when capacity is reached

Junior Choir – Year 6 & under

Intermediate Choir – Year 10 & under

Senior Choir – Year 12 & under

Open Choral Workshop (non-competitive) – Any age including adults
