PIANO

Saturday 4th August 2018

VENUE: BALAKLAVA TOWN HALL

Balaklava Town Hall

8 Wallace Street, Balaklava

ADJUDICATOR: JAMIE COCK

Jamie Cock began piano lessons aged 14 with Di Spence in Balaklava, going on to complete an Honours Degree in Piano Performance at the Elder Conservatorium studying under Noreen Stokes and Stefan Ammer. He pursued further study in solo and chamber music at the Martinu Academy in Prague with Boris Krajny and at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, Germany under the guidance of Professor Felix Gottlieb.

Jamie has presented concerts in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and throughout Europe, and was employed as staff accompanist to the cello class of Raphael Wallfisch at the Musikhochschule Zurich/Winterthur. He is an established and experienced chamber musician, accompanist, teacher, instrumental and vocal coach, active in everything from early music to cabaret. He has performed with the Adelaide and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, for Recitals Australia, the Adelaide Festival, Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, live broadcasts on ABC Classic FM and Southwest Radio Germany and in collaborations with (among others) the State Opera of South Australia, Adelaide Chamber Singers, new music collective The Firm and the State Theatre Company.

Jamie curates the chamber music series ‘Lunchbreak’ at Scots Church in Adelaide, and is Principal Accompanist for Young Adelaide Voices. Away from the piano he enjoys travel, reading fiction, pottering in the garden, languages, watching good tennis and playing bad tennis. He won the Adelaide Eisteddfod Concerto, Geoffrey Parsons Award and the Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin, so he is well acquainted with going through the anxieties of music competitions too!

CONVENOR: TRISH LANGDON
